WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you boost in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with higher variance due to the need to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.
upgrade item is located in all major cities, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For instance, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners in a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool with an button, which will show a preview of the item at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items being upgraded, and can be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades must be acquired through several methods which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. After a player has earned an upgrade to a specific level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will cost less even in the event that they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut also, but is only available once certain milestones are reached.
Crests
When upgrading gear in WoW, players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.
First, you should know that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.
The use of these currencies isn't too complicated however, the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to get their gear up to the highest level possible on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. It's best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear that you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
