Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The stats of an item are improved through upgrading it, also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment boosts a stat linearly.
Players can recycle up to six items at once to gain a level gauge for each of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling an item scales depending on its rarity and.
Upgrade components
A level upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can boost the effectiveness of your weapon and armor. This can be done through many different methods such as using upgrade components as well as upgrading an item's mark levels or rarity. Additionally, many items can be reforged to boost their stats even more.
You can purchase upgradeable items throughout the game. They are available in all over the world, as well as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. Upgrade components are the most common method to upgrade equipment. These are the items that can slot into equipment. Most equipment comes with upgrade slots, and the majority require a certain upgrade level. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while others offer a general bonus.
There are many types of upgrade components available in the game, including universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments, can be put on any type of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrades that are specific to equipment. Glyphs can only be placed in gathering tools, and provide numerous bonuses, from increasing the speed of an item's gathering to supplying additional crafting materials.
To upgrade an item, click it in your inventory and open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right side of the screen. It will display the expected stats after the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will show blocked if you don't have enough of either.
The number of upgrade components needed for a particular item is displayed in the upper-right corner of the Upgrade window. The price of an upgrade increases with the level and rarity of the item. However, you can reduce the cost by purchasing upgrades from a vendor or trading them with other players.
Many weapons can be improved with a prefix, such as a rune or an insignia. Other weapons can be enhanced with a suffix. These upgrades include an adjective in the item's name, such as "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to communicate visual information. They move to grab the viewer's eye and stimulate curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics body language, which makes them more effective in communicating a message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs can also trigger a feeling of familiarity in the brain, increasing retention of the message.
Each glyph can increase a stat's value by a specific amount. This is displayed on the item, when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is the maximum value that a glyph could improve a stat by and not the amount it actually improves it by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and quality of the item you're creating it for.
The majority of upgrade components that are installed into items cannot be removed or replaced without dismantling them, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. However, if you have a non-useful rune or glyph that has not yet been added to your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece gear by using the upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.
You can take out the glyph using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item where the glyph is placed will be destroyed, however the upgraded item can be retrieved using the glyph shards.
The addition of a glyph to an item can cause it to be unstable, and the shards of that glyph will disappear from your inventory when you remove the item. You can also place an inscription on your equipment to make it more valuable. Deferred Damage, for example can be used to store damage and then be dealt slowly to the wearer rather than all at once. This is beneficial for those who take many hits from enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens can be used to alter the affixes on weapons and equipment. They can be obtained from various sources, including mystery boxes and rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Each reroll provides the player with an unspecified affix, which is generally better than the one they had prior to. Reroll tokens can be used to boost the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses.
Items that have been rerolled do not appear in the upgrade menu, but they still qualify to receive upgrades. By pressing the "upgrade button", you can recycle the items that have been rerolled. This will change the appearance of the window for the item and let up to six items be selected to recycle. Recycling an item adds a small amount of points to its level gauge. The amount is determined by the item's rarity as well as its level. Thus, items with higher levels are more valuable for recycling than items with lower levels.
Players can also use Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits to upgrade units. Rerolls roll the percentage chance of a weapon trait. If it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower, the weapon remains unchanged. Weapons can be repeatedly rolled up to three times.
Rerolls are a good option to upgrade an item, however, players must be aware that it could reduce the total ilvl of the weapon by the number of rerolls needed to increase it to the final level. This lowering effect is most effective for Diadems and rings that don't have competing ilvl-raising options.
The system of rerolls has been criticised by players for being expensive, and it would be more fair to let people pay for it with money or food items that would allow them to change their builds without spending too much time and energy. However paying for rerolls is not something the developers want to implement at this point in the game's development. Instead, they plan to include an ability to change races in the future.
Leveling
There are a variety of ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the upgrade amount, which increases the value of an upgrade for any stat. The second is to boost the effect of an upgrade, which increases the damage or heal of a given stat. In addition you have the option to upgrade the base item to an upgrade type. When this is done the new item will maintain its iLevel but it will benefit from the upgrade effects of the upgraded type of item.
It is crucial to remember that upgrades can be random. In item upgrader of cases, a better roll will be derived from glyphs, but there are also chances for more or unique rolls. The type of the item will determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a rare or unique item to a special kind of item, it has a chance of getting a higher level.
The cost of upgrading items can be expensive, particularly if you're upgrading a piece of gear from the normal to the legendary track. The cost of upgrading an item will be contingent on the base iLevel and the number of levels to upgrade. Some upgrade tracks also require crests in order to get to the next level.
If you're lucky, your upgraded item will reach the highest level on its upgrade track and gain an additional benefit. This will result in a significant increase in the value of the item. The bonus effect will change with each upgrade level, however. In general the upgrade effect is increased by a value of +3.
The iLevel can also change according to the upgrade path and base level. For instance the weapon that has been upgraded from a rare or exclusive item to an extraordinary item will be able to gain the Enhanced Defense of the base type of item.
